Are you pregnant? Find out how to calculate your due date!
Have you just found out you are pregnant? Congratulations!🎈
You just had a look at the 'plus' sign on the pregnancy test and found out that your test is positive.. So amazing! This means you are probably 3 to 4 weeks pregnant, or maybe even longer. In which week of your pregnancy you are, really depends on several factors; the length of your menstrual cycle and the exact date you’ve conceived. We ensure you that it’s very common among new moms to do a quick Google research: 'calculate due date'. Let us explain how you can calculate your own due date.
Calculating the due date is important for the midwife to compare your baby's expected development with how your baby has actually developed. This way, the midwife can see if your baby is well on track. But what exactly does the due date mean? It is an indication of the date you will probably give birth to your little big miracle. If you can't figure out yours after reading this blog, no worries: your midwife will help you calculate your due date.
There’s nothing more exciting than holding a positive pregnancy test in your hands. Once you have processed the joyful news (can we ever?), you will probably be curious to calculate the due date. How to do that? We will explain it to you below. Just keep in mind that calculating the due date is not an exact science. Only 5% of all babies are actually born on the due date.
So here’s how to calculate:
A pregnancy officially lasts 40 weeks, but as you can see from the calculation, you are actually only 38 weeks pregnant. In fact, a pregnancy lasts 38 weeks on average from conception on, but the first day of your last period is used to calculate the due date. From that day on, the pregnancy will last around 40 weeks.
